Our Christmas preparations started in October when I first started buying presents. I think I have decided never to do that again because even though I had everything bought early, I still wanted to shop, so I just bought extra presents. Lol! I had a really good time shopping this year. I got most of Zoey's toys from us from the used children's store. I highly recommend this to anyone. You can find barely used toys there at great prices. Since Zoey outgrows things so quickly at this age, it's a great way to go.
We had several different Christmas celebrations this year, which meant Zoey go to open a lot of presents. Of course she had plenty of practice beforehand since she kept trying to open all the presents under the tree. She succeeded in opening one of Scott's, with his urging of course, as well as one for her uncle.
Christmas Eve was spent as a family day. We got up in the morning and had some Christmas Eve pumpkin pie for breakfast. Zoey is a fan of pumpkin pie.
We had a Christmas dinner/lunch of ham, funeral potatoes, green bean casserole, fruit cocktail salad, and rolls.
After dinner we opened presents. Some of the highlights for Zoey were the kitchen from my mom, the Little People farm from my dad, and the blocks from Scott and I. She also has gotten a lot of use out of the shape sorter cookie jar and the piggy bank she got. Seriously, she got so much stuff!!! As for Scott and I, Scott got a cage for a chinchilla (chinchilla came later) and I got a Kinect sensor for the xbox. We were both pretty excited by our gifts.
Christmas morning Zoey woke up and saw what Santa had brought her. She must have been good, cuz she got a lot of cool stuff. Her main gift was a crawl through house. She also got a mailbox and a play tablet. Her stocking was filled with Zoo Talkers, a couple books, American Tale DVD, and some snacks.
After Santa, we had our traditional monkey bread for breakfast and then played with toys before heading over to Aunt Phyl's house for another yummy Christmas dinner and more presents. Once again Zoey was way spoiled. She got a sweet hippo chair, some baby dolls, and my favorite, the Zoo Talkers zoo. We had a very nice time.
After we got back home, Scott's dad came over and Zoey opened even more presents and was even more spoiled. Highlights include some tub toys, which she LOVED, blocks, fridge gears and magnets, a travel tray for our upcoming trip to Colorado. Scott and I got a GPS, which I have been loving lately. We had a good time talking and laughing with Don and Connie.
Now you would think that would be the end of our Christmas festivities, but no, we had two more gatherings in the next week, Zoey and Scott got together with Scott's mom's side of the family when Angela was in town. I had to work, but Zoey was happy to show me her Red doll she got from Aunt Angela when I got home. I was able to see Angela, Lee, Robbie, and Neko later int he week at the Poe family gathering. Zoey got even more presents including a stuffed horse, which she loves and a Zoo Talkers truck, which she drives around the front room.
