W is for Wimbley

Let me introduce everyone to Wimbley

He is an almost 3 year old medium haired cat.

Wimbley was the second cat Scott and I got together. He was a Valentine's Day cat. I went to the pet store on Valentine's Day and found a cat that I wanted. I can't remember anything about that cat except for that it flopped in it's cage, which is why I loved it. Anyhow, the next day Scott and I went back to the pet store to try to adopt her, but she had already been adopted. However, we spotted Wimbley, who was named Cesar at the time, and he did a great flop for us, so we decided to get him instead.

The name Wimbley comes from Fraggle Rock. Scott and I both are fans of that show and watched a DVD of it on one of our first dates. Wimbley doesn't have a lot of names like the rest of the animals do. I think the main one is Wimbles.

Wimbley is a bit confused and thinks he is a dog. He wrestles and fights with the dogs and is absolute best friends with Temperance. Wimbley's favorite fight move is the fly trap where he lays on his back and waits for one of the dogs to walk by. He then attacks their legs. He'll do it to Scott and I too and bites our toes. Wimbley is an awesome cuddler and his fur is so soft.

U is for Unimpressed

Sunday was Zoey's first Easter and overall she was pretty unimpressed. Now I know she is only 5 1/2 months old, so I really couldn't expect a whole lot, but I could barely even get a smile out of her during any of the Easter festivities. We made a cake "together" on Saturday and dyed eggs. Then on Sunday morning she got her Easter basket and later in the day, while Scott was at work, I took her over to Scott's Dad's side of the family to have Easter dinner. Hopefully next year will be a little more exciting.

T is for Temperance

Let me introduce everyone to Temperance or Tempe

She is an almost 3 year old Black Lab Mix. We aren't sure what she is mixed with, but basically she looks like a black lab, who is turning a little bit brown, with some white areas on her. Also, whatever she is mixed with must have been on the smaller size, because Tempe only weighs about half what a black lab normally would.

Tempe was the first animal Scott and I ever adopted together. We knew going into it that we wanted a black lab, so we searched Pet Finder to find one in our area and then drove out the the shelter to see what they had. Tempe was in the outside run with her sister, who looked just like her but didn't have any white on her (at that time, Tempe just had a white paw). Both Tempe and her sister were super cute and friendly, but we picked Tempe due to the white paw.

The name Temperance comes from a TV show that both Scott and I really enjoy, Bones. She has a lot of nicknames (like all of our animals), but the most common are T, Mompers, and Temomperance. She comes to all of them.

Tempe is a super friendly dog. She is great with all of the other animals. Her best friend is probably, Wimbley, the cat. They cuddle like crazy. She also love to wrestle and play with Rhino, and sometimes Sadie. She loves playing fetch. Tempe is extremely afraid of storms and hates water. I think it's probably related to the fact that she was kept outside when she was at the shelter.

S is for Suki ... aka Skunk Face

Let me introduce everyone to Suki, who will from here on out be referred to as Skunk Face.

Skunk Face is an almost two year old long haired cat.

The story of how she came to her home is one that I will never live down. You see, I have always hated cats and saw no use to them as pets. However, after Scott's cat, Tika, and I were introduced I changed my mind, and I think I have been trying to replace her ever since she died. Skunk Face is a result of that. I was in the pet store one day, I don't remember what I was buying, and I walked by the kitty room. Skunky was being rambunctious and playing in one of the window cubes, and I made the very spontaneous decision to adopt her. So I did and I put her in the box they gave me, and drove over to Scott's work. I come walking in, with a meowing box, and tell Scott "I did a bad thing". LOL! The rest is history.

We had a bit of a hard time finding a name for her. I think Scott might have suggested Skunk Face right off the bat, but I didn't want any of our animals have names that weren't real names. So we brain stormed to try and think of names from shows Scott and I both liked, and kind of settled on Suki because we were just getting into watching True Blood (we don't even watch it anymore). Calling her Suki was short lived, and Skunk Face or Skunky quickly became the go to.

Skunky is very standoffish. She really doesn't come near either Scott or I unless we are in the bathroom or sometimes when Scott is working out downstairs. Despite her standoffish nature, she is the funnest cat to play with. She will chase things and twirl around until she makes herself dizzy. She gets along well with the other cats, but lately the dogs have been enjoying giving her a hard time.

R is for Rhino

Let me introduce everyone to Rhino.

Rhino is almost 2 years old. He is a Beagle.

Rhino came to our home initally as a foster dog. Scott and I realized that we had a tendency to always want new animals, which is why we have six, so we thought if we became foster parents we could satisfy our desire to have new animals in our home and at the same time help an animal in need. However, that plan didn't work too well because I quickly fell in love with Rhino and the idea of giving him up was too much. So we decide to adopt him.

Rhino was found on the side of the road and taken to the shelter. I am pretty sure he was abused pretty bad at some point in time because when he first came to our home he was scared to death and wouldn't go near Scott. Over time he has gotten better. He will cuddle by Scott on the couch and is much better around new people; however, he still is very jumpy and will freak out over the smallest thing (i.e. an empty water bottle falling on the floor).

Rhino came to us with his name and since he was going to be a foster, we decided to keep it and then once we adopted him we were so used to the name that we kept it. Some of his nicknames include Rhinox, Nox, Noxasaurousrex, and Rhinox the Destroyer.

Rhino is really good friends with Tempe and they love to play and wrestle together. He also loves to play outside with Scott. He will run around Scott and howl at him. It's hilarious!!!

Q is for Quick Zoey Updates

Just a few quick updates about little Zoester.

She got her first tooth. Technically, teeth. On Monday Scott and I noticed that she has cut two of her bottom teeth. It was a bit of a surprise to us since she hasn't been the least bit fussy!!!

Today Zoey had another appointment at Children's Hospital for her hemangioma. It went ok. It continues to grow, but there is no medical risk. The doctor did say that if we wanted to we could do steroid injections to try to slow it down and shrink it. While there are no significant side effects of the immediate shot, if they occur long time than there is a risk of it affecting her immune system. Since the shot would be purely for cosmetic reasons, I decide to hold off on the shots for now. Zoey is perfect just the way she is!

After her doctor's appointment, I took Zoey to see the Easter Bunny. For some reason every Easter Bunny I have seen in years past has creeped me out. This one wasn't too bad.

N is for New Foods

Zoey had her first experience with solids (if you can call it that) today. After her morning bottle, we decided to give her some rice cereal. Most of it ended up outside of her mouth or on Mommy (after she tipped the bowl over), but she seemed excited. I think I will use a little bit less breast milk when I make it for her this afternoon and see if she does better.

Trying to get the hang of it

M is for Monster ... Sadie Monster

Let me introduce everyone to Sadie Monster.

Sadie is approximately 5 years old. She is a Boston Terrier, but is a runt even for her breed.

Sadie came to me after my friend saved her from one of her client's houses. Basically my friend said you're not taking care of this dog, so I'm taking it. When I got Sadie, she was covered in fleas. Her teeth were rotten and she was slightly malnourished.

Her previous owners named her Sadie, so I just kept that name. Sadie has several different nicknames, but the most used are Monster and Face, both short for Sadie Monster and Sadie Face.

Sadie is most known for her ability to snore louder than any human, even when she is awake. She has small dog complex, which gets her in trouble at times. She is a guard dog and goes ballistic whenever anyone comes into the house, and we can see her looking out the window barking when we pull in the driveway.

Here are some of my favorite pictures of Sadie

L is for Love

Today I thought I would celebrate Love by talking about my wonderful husband, Scott, and posting some of my favorite wedding pictures.

Scott and I met in what is becoming more and more of the norm, the Internet. I had done some dating in the three years I lived in PA, but nothing had ever really clicked. So one night I was out with my friends celebrating my birthday and my other single friend and I decided to give online dating another shot. So I went home and fired up Match.com and started reading profiles. I came across Scott's and was intrigued. I don't remember what it was and really it doesn't matter since one of his female friends wrote his profile for him. LOL! Anyhow, I decided to wink and him and he ended up responding back.

We chatted via IM and email for a couple days and then the day before his birthday we ended up talking on the phone. I ended up talking him into letting me take him out for dinner for his birthday. We ended up meeting up for dinner and then hung out at his apartment and watched Transformers. It was a really great night and I was excited to spend more time with him. However, I was leaving for Ireland in a couple of days. I think we saw each other one more time before I left and then we talked or texted everyday that I was in Ireland (hello $700 cell phone bill) and while I was gone he even hung out with my friends. Since he survived them and they liked him we continued to see each other and things just took off from there.

11 months after we met Scott and I got engaged and we were married in May of 2010. One year anniversary coming up soon!!!!

Here are some pics from the wedding. The day that I married the most wonderful man in the world. He is an amazing husband and a fantastic father.
