RadioU 5K

Last Friday Scott and I participated in our first 5K.

For those of you who don't know, prior to becoming pregnant with Zoey I was trying to lose weight for the wedding and doing a pretty good job of it. I was down 30 lbs and I contribute most of that to my doing the Couch to 5K program. It started out as just another way to exercise, but I soon fell in love with running and was planning on running my first 5K.

However, I then found out I was pregnant and my running was put on hold. Following her birth, I have never really been able to get back into the swing of things. This 5K was my attempt to get my butt in gear.

It didn't really happen and I didn't train at all for it, but I ran it anyhow. Well actually I walk/ran it. I disappointed myself by not being able to run for a longer period of time than I did, but hey at least I did it and hopefully it has resparked my motivation.

Zoey's Baptism

Sunday June 12th was Zoey's baptism. It was a nice event. Most of Scott's family was able to make it and some of our friends. Sadly my family wasn't able to be there since they live so far away. However, they were there in spirit. My mom bought Zoey's dress and gave her a special teddy bear.

After church we had a small reception at our house afterwards. Scott and I once again bought to much food, but it's better to have leftovers than to run out.

Anniversary Weekend

Scott and my anniversary was over Memorial Day weekend. We didn't really have one day that we celebrated. We just enjoyed the weekend as a family. It was nice because Scott took Sunday off so we actually had three days in a row that we got to spend as a family.

Friday night Scott and I dropped Zoey off at Aunt Phyl's and we had our official anniversary dinner at Molly Woo's. This place gets a lot of positive reviews, but Scott and I were not really impressed. We've had better Chinese food from less expensive places. Oh well, we used a gift card I got for Christmas, so no big loss, plus we got to have a dinner out without Little Miss Zoey.

Saturday we spent around the house doing some yard work and trying to get the house cleaned. Later that night we had Heather, Scott, and their boys over to watch the fights.

On Sunday we headed up to Ohio Caverns, where we met up with Scott's mom and step dad. It was a good time. Zoey seemed to like the caverns, but I'm not so sure Scott enjoyed tryig to maneuver through them with her strapped to his chest. LOL!

On Monday, we went to the zoo. It was a really hot day, so we didn't spend a lot of time there. That's the nice thing about having a zoo pass. You don't feel bad if you only spend a couple of hours at the zoo.

It was a pretty awesome anniversary weekend!!!!

Trip to Utah/Colorado

In mid-May Scott and I took Zoey to visit my family in Utah and Colorado. With the exception of my mother, who came out when Zoey was first born, none of my family had met Zoey. Unfortunately, we only had 6 days, and two of those were travel days, so we didn't have a whole lot of time.

She did an amazing job on the plane and we got compliments from those around us. In fact, we had one of the worst landing ever when we landed in Chicago. It was so bad that I actually bounced up off my seat. Zoey just smiled and thought it was the best thing ever. LOL!

Once we arrived in Salt Lake, we had to deal with difficulty at the rental car counter (I won;t get into details of that. We then met our friends, Amanda and Duane, and their baby, Colin, at one of my favorite burger places in SLC, Crown Burger, and had a good lunch.

We then drove three hours to see my grandma. Sadly, we didn't get to visit for very long; however, it was a nice visit.

From there we drove another hour to visit with my dad. We were able to spend a couple of hours there and went to dinner. Zoey seemed to enjoy her time.

We spent the night in the hotel. Zoey fell asleep pretty easily in the pack-n-play and woke up in a good mood that morning.

Once we got up and ready, we headed over to my sister's house, three hours away in Colorado. Once there, we had a great time seeing everyone and playing with everyone.

While we were at my sister's house, we celebrated my niece's 16th birthday. Her theme was Toy Story, so we got her a Toy Story cake. I created 8 x 10 pictures of her throughout the years and we hung them from the ceiling.

This trip also gave Scott and I the opportunity to take Zoey swimming for the first time. I was kind of nervous about it because up until this trip Zoey absolutely hated bath time. So I was worried she would just scream and scream. However, she seemed to really enjoy it. I'm not sure she really cared about the water and was more interested in sucking on her monkey. LOL!

All in all, it was a pretty good visit with the family. We left my sister's house Tuesday afternoon and headed to Amanda and Duane's for the night so we wouldn't have to drive the four hours early in the morning. It was nice to be able to spend some time and let Zoey and Colin play together. We also got to see some friends that live in Utah.

The flight home was good. Zoey again was very well behaved on the plane and we once again got compliments on how good she was. We had a long layover in Chicago, but Zoey was a trooper and just played with her toy.
