I was organizing the pictures on my computer and realized that I never made a blog post for this recipe. This recipe was made way back in January, and it was the last Nerdy Nummies themed MDBD we have done. Things have just been kind of hectic, so my plans to work our way through the cookbook have been postponed, but we will eventually get back to it.
One of the very first things Zoey did when she got the Nerdy Nummies cookbook was decide that we had to make the Red Blood Cell Cupcakes for Aunt Tia's birthday. To most this may seem like a strange decision, but it was actually perfect. Aunt Tia is a phlebotomist, or a "blood doctor" as Zoey call her. LOL!

This recipe has not been featured on Nerdy Nummies as far as I can tell, so I will not be posting the actual recipe.
Once we got the cupcake batter all prepared, Zoey got to work putting the brown cupcake liners into the pan.
Cupcakes are out of the oven and pan. Need to cool
While the cupcakes were cooling, I got to work making the blood cells. This was by far the most difficult part of this recipe. It was SO time consuming and my hands were so sore from rolling each of the starburst pieces into little balls.
First I had to cut each Starburst into quarters
Then each little piece had to be rolled into a ball and formed into a blood cell
Once I finally got all the blood cells made, Zoey and I got to work putting them on the cupcakes. They were kind of glued to the cake using the frosting that had been dyed red.
Once all the cupcakes had blood cells on top of them, I made the raspberry sauce that was drizzled over the top. I forgot to take any pictures of the process to make the sauce.

I am not able to give this MDBD a score because I didn't actually taste them. I just never got a chance to have one. I will say that I think they looked pretty good.
