Easter 2014

I really need to get better about blogging closer to an event rather than months after the fact. I honesty don't even remember Easter all that well. That of course means this will be more of a picture post, which I guess isn't too different from my normal posts. LOL! I do know that Zoey was spoiled rotten by all of her family, who loves her so much. We are truly blessed with family, both near and far, that love us and support us on a daily basis.

Our Easter festivities officially started a few weeks before Easter when my mom sent Zoey her Easter stuff and created Zoey's obsession with some bunny magnets. There was a week straight where Zoey had to take these magnets everywhere with her. I ended up asking my mom to send us some more because I was worried Zoey would lose them and then be upset. She has actually kept track of most of them and was even playing with them on the fridge this morning. I'm telling you she loves those things.

On the day before Easter, my sister, niece, and nephew came over to dye Easter eggs with Zoey. They also had an Easter basket for Zoey, because of course Tiffany spoils Zo. I think the favorite item in that basket was the punch ball. I remember loving those when I was a kid. It was also pretty funny to watch Zoey beat up Tiffany and Shay with her balloon.

Dying Easter eggs was pretty fun this year. Zoey impressed me with her ability to put the eggs in and out of the dye using a spoon and not dropping them. Unfortunately, she didn't pay attention to whether the cup was empty or not, so she ended up cracking a few by dropping them too hard on top of another egg. Zoey also showed her superior intelligence by writing a 3 on one of her eggs. I was the only one that could see it, but I'm still giving her credit for it. LOL

Once Tiffany and everyone left,  we got around to MDBD for the week. There will not be a separate MDBD post for that week because we didn't do a new recipe. We just used a cake mix and our bunny pan. Even though it's called Mommy Daughter Bake Day, Daddy gets involved too sometimes.

Later that night, Scott's dad and his girlfriend came over to the house. Scott's grandma gave us her old love seat for the basement, so his dad brought it over that night. They couldn't stay for very long, but they were there long enough to watch Zoey decorate the Easter Bunny cake that we made for MDBD earlier in the day.

The Easter Bunny came that night and when Zoey woke up in the morning she had a pretty awesome Easter Basket waiting for her. She got her favorite My Little Pony, Pinkie Pie, a set of Disney puzzles, some smaller ponies, a coloring book, a Leap Frog opposites puzzle, a Leap Frog workbook, and some candy. She was a pretty happy kiddo.

The Easter Bunny had also hidden some eggs around the house, so Zoey went on an egg hunt. Zoey has been obsessed with maps since she got her pirate map from Santa at Christmas, so Zoey got a map to follow to try and finds her eggs. She struggled a little bit with it, but she was able to find all the eggs and gather up everything that was inside them. The Easter Bunny filled them with jelly beans, chocolates, and stickers.

Later that morning Scott's mom and step-dad came over to drop off Zoey's Easter present form them. Someone Bev knew had a crib and high chair for dolls that she wanted to go to a good home, so Bev picked that up for Zoey and brought it over. She also got a basket filled with goodies, including two stuffed animals, and a rake and shovel which have been a big hit.

Once Bev and Leland left, we headed to one of our favorite places ... the zoo!!! We figured it would either be super dead on Easter because everyone would be spending time with their families or it would be super busy because everyone was spending time with their families at the zoo. It was pretty busy. We still had a great time though. Zoey was excited to see the Easter Bunny and when I asked if she wanted to go say hi she said yes. She did good walking up to him and saying hi, but when I tried to get her to turn around so we could take a picture, she wasn't having any of it. They tried to give her a stuffed animal to hold for the picture, but she just tossed it at the Easter Bunny and said "Here you go". Zoey did ride the carousel for the first time without freaking out the whole time. This girl loves roller coasters, but the carousel was terrifying to her.

After the zoo, we were supposed to go to the Poe side of the family for Easter dinner. However, Zoey was starting to get tired and having some fits, so we decided to skip that. It's just too hard to take her to family functions on that side of the family anyhow because she doesn't see them as often and gets overwhelmed. Add in the fact that she was already in pre-meltdown mode, and it would have been a disaster. So we ended up just going home and relaxing and then Scott's dad stopped by later that night for a few minutes. Another fun filled Easter come and gone :)
